Asante Kotoko have signed Moroccan goalkeeper Abdelwadie Mourad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The 22-year-old becomes the first Moroccan player to join the two-time African champions and strengthens coach Eric Tinkler’s goalkeeping department, which already includes Ibrahim Danlad, Aziz Dari and youth graduate Clever Obeng.
Speaking after completing the move, Mourad said Kotoko’s history and ambition were key factors in his decision.
“Who doesn’t know Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in Ghana? They have a lot of trophies, and I want to be part of this club, giving my best to let the team trust me.
“I wish to be the best goalkeeper in this club. This club is ambitious to do more, so that’s why I chose this club,” Mourad added.
Mourad began his career with Moroccan top-flight side Chabab Mohammedia, progressing through the youth ranks before making 14 first-team appearances.
He later spent half a season with Albanian club Basania FC before securing his move to Kumasi.
The goalkeeper has named Yassine Bounou, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, as his footballing idol.
Kotoko begin their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign away to Debibi United.
