The Alpha Ladies Group, a women’s empowerment organisation, is equipping women with practical catering and cutlery skills as part of efforts to promote economic independence and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The initiative seeks to provide women with marketable skills that can open doors to employment and entrepreneurship, particularly within the hospitality and catering industry.
As part of the programme, the group has rolled out a catering and cutlery skills training initiative designed to give participants hands-on knowledge and the confidence to turn their skills into viable sources of income.
Founder of the Alpha Ladies Group, Josephine Hagan Eshun, said the initiative was aimed at empowering women with practical skills that could help them establish their own businesses or secure jobs in the hospitality and catering sector.
Speaking to Adom News during the Alpha Ladies Cook and Care Challenge in Tema, she said the group was committed to helping women acquire skills that could improve their livelihoods and contribute to the economic well-being of their families.
“Our aim is to equip women with practical catering and cutlery skills that they can use to create opportunities for themselves. We want them to be able to start their own businesses or use the skills to secure employment,” she said.
According to her, providing women with practical and marketable skills remains an important step towards helping them achieve financial independence and build sustainable livelihoods.
She added that the programme was not only about teaching participants how to prepare food but also about giving them skills that could be transformed into income-generating ventures.
Some beneficiaries of the programme expressed optimism that the skills acquired would enable them to become more financially independent and better positioned to support their families.
They said the training had boosted their confidence and given them practical knowledge that could be used to venture into catering services, food production, and other related businesses.
