Ghana’s creative space is witnessing a fresh approach to live performance as dancer and creative director Allo Maadjoa unveils the second edition of his innovative performance series, Rhythm and Dance.
The monthly project brings together live music, dance and cinematic visual storytelling to create an immersive performance experience that moves beyond the traditional stage or music-video format. Each edition is built around live instrumentation, choreography and intimate audience interaction, allowing music to be reinterpreted through movement and visual expression.
The newly released second edition, Best of KiDi, continues the concept by transforming a selection of KiDi’s popular records into a live, dance-driven experience. The focus, however, extends beyond the music itself, with the production designed to highlight the relationship between sound, movement, performance and visual storytelling.
The latest edition features Koby Tuesday as artist, Stepz Guy Guy as creative director, Kobby Shots as video director, TubhaniMuzik as music producer and Mr Tabernacle as MC.
A platform for creative collaboration
More than a performance series, Rhythm and Dance is designed as a recurring platform for collaboration and talent discovery. New editions are scheduled for release every month, with each instalment introducing different artists, sounds, themes and creative teams.
The project also creates opportunities for emerging talents, including vocalists, producers, dancers, creative directors and other industry professionals, giving them a platform to work alongside established creative voices and reach new audiences.
Dance at the centre
Dance remains a defining element of the series, with Allo Maadjoa performing alongside members of his creative collective, Allo Dancers, Allo Freedom, Kweku Virus and Steps Guy Guy.
Their performances incorporate diverse and contemporary dance movements, adding another layer of interpretation to each musical selection.

An immersive visual experience
The performances are staged in an intimate, cultural-lounge-inspired setting rather than a conventional concert environment. Upcycled oil-barrel tables, wooden stools and low metal chairs surround a live band featuring percussion, strings, horns and keyboards.
A vocalist performs from the centre of the space while dancers move through the setting, creating an intimate atmosphere where the audience becomes part of the performance.
With its second edition now released, Rhythm and Dance is establishing itself as a distinctive platform at the intersection of music, dance and visual storytelling, with the next instalment expected as the series continues its monthly release schedule.
