Black Stars captain Andre Ayew says it was surprising to see Algeria win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy.
He stressed that football is full of surprises, and expects the Black Stars to work hard if Ghana wants to win the AFCON.
In an exclusive interview with Alex Kobina Stonne on the Adom Sports Page 2 show, the Ghanaian Captain said the Black Stars will never let the country down, and will work hard to make the country proud.
He said “we are here, we are fighting, we need to fight another day, we shall never give up, and will not let our country down, we are going again with other matches coming up, and we will make sure we make Ghanaians proud again.”
Asked if he was surprised to see Algeria lift the AFCON trophy, the Swansea midfielder said “nobody was expecting that, but its football they have won, and we need to work hard, and one day it will be our turn.”
