The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has directed Aschal Investment Limited to immediately resume work on the 37-kilometre Wa-Bulenga Road in the Upper West Region.
The order follows growing concerns over the contractor’s prolonged absence from the project, which was awarded in 2024.
Mr Agbodza issued the directive during an inspection of the Wa-Bulenga-Yaala Road, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of work and the condition of some completed sections.
He instructed the contractor to return to site without delay and correct portions of the road that have already developed defects.
The Minister warned that government would not tolerate delays or poor-quality work on projects that have been awarded and funded.
He stressed that the contractor must ensure the road meets the required standards and is completed within the agreed timeframe.
“Tell the contractor to come back to site immediately and remedy all those things. The thing is already failing. It is not rocket science, and you don’t have to be an engineer to know that what he has done will fail in no time, so call him back to site to address the issue immediately,” he said.
“We have no appetite for substandard work,” Mr Agbodza added.
