Roads Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has announced plans to rehabilitate and improve major roads across Accra ahead of Ghana’s 70th Independence anniversary celebrations in March 2027.

The Minister said the exercise will involve the resealing of several principal roads in the capital as part of efforts to improve road conditions, enhance safety and give Accra a renewed look ahead of the national celebrations.

Mr Agbodza also disclosed that work would be completed on some stalled road projects, including the Kasoa and Ofankor road corridors.

He said the completion of the projects is expected to improve movement and help ease congestion on some of the busiest routes serving Accra and its adjoining communities.

The Minister further announced the resumption of construction works along the coastal road corridor, covering the stretch from Independence Square through Osu to Tema.

According to him, the various interventions form part of government’s broader programme to upgrade Accra’s road infrastructure and improve connectivity.

He said the works would also ensure that the capital is adequately prepared to host activities associated with Ghana’s 70th Independence anniversary in March 2027.
