National Women Organiser of the NDC, Hajia Joyce Zainabu Mahama has said President Akufo-Addo’s poor planning of the Free Senior High School program will breed more pregnancies in 2018.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Friday, Hajia stressed that, the incumbent government’s inability to expatiate educational infrastructures which were started by erstwhile Mahama administration has allegedly led to students of both sexes sleeping together in dormitories and bungalows.
According to her, she believes this act will bring about more pregnancies in the coming year if not checked.
“Today, Assistant Headmistress’ have given out their halls to some students and so far as both boys and girls of adolescent age are sleeping in the same room, I can confidently tell you that, more pregnancies would come up in 2018’’.
“Nana Addo told Ghanaians President Mahama said he would build 200 schools and he couldn’t build  a single one, if he couldn’t build one, where would he have accommodated the children under the Free SHS?’’ Hajia said.
Meanwhile, in a quick rebuttal, the Greater Accra Regional Women Organiser of the NPP and aspiring National Women Organiser, Joyce Konoike Zempare maintained that the challenges facing the Free SHS is due to the incompetence governance by the Mahama administration.
She emphasized that the NDC is infused with pessimism which was evident in 2008 when they kicked against the Free SHS idea during Nana Addo’s campaign to the election.
Madam Joyce continued that, the NDC administration was deceitful in nature hence they couldn’t honour their promise of building 200 day Secondary Schools across the nation.
“They told us they were going to construct 200 Day Secondary Schools but ask them how many they were able to build. The few they constructed are situated in remote areas and students cannot commute to the schools’’.
“When Nana Addo mentioned this Free SHS in 2008, the NDC run 32 adverts to thwart it because they don’t believe in themselves, they also don’t believe anything is possible for this country” she said.
According to the Greater Accra Regional Women Organiser of the NPP, the opposition NDC disappointed the entire nation but pledged the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration will put measures in place to resolve the challenges confronting the Free SHS program.
