French luxury footwear designer Christian Louboutin has brought a touch of global fashion to the Asante royal court, as he joined Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace for Akwasidae.

The world-renowned designer, whose signature red-soled shoes have become a symbol of luxury fashion, was among the dignitaries who joined the Asantehene for the seventh Akwasidae celebration of the year on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

The gathering at Manhyia Palace offered Louboutin an opportunity to experience one of Asanteman’s important traditional observances, marked by the display of royal customs and heritage.

But his engagement with the Asante royal household did not end at the palace.

On Monday, October 12, Lady Julia received Louboutin at her private residence, where the two held a closed-door discussion that explored the potential establishment of a Christian Louboutin outlet in Kumasi.

The prospect of a boutique in the Ashanti regional capital could bring the French luxury label closer to Ghanaian customers, although no details have been announced about a possible location or opening date.

During the meeting, Louboutin presented Lady Julia with a pair of his signature red-soled shoes, a distinctive design that has helped make his creations instantly recognisable around the world.
