President John Dramani Mahama has assured chiefs and residents of the Ahafo Region of further road construction projects to improve transportation and support development.

He gave the assurance during the Regional Accountability Series tour at Goaso, where he acknowledged the challenges residents have faced because of poor road conditions.

President Mahama said the government was committed to expanding road infrastructure in the region, adding that several projects were already underway under its Big Push initiative.

He cited the Tepa–Mabang–Goaso road, which he said was being asphalted by Kofi Job Construction Limited to address years of concerns over its poor condition.

The President also highlighted the Sunyani–Ntotroso–Acherensua road project, which is being undertaken through a partnership between Newmont Ghana and the government.

The projects, he said, formed part of efforts to improve road connectivity and ease transportation challenges affecting communities in the region.

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs and people of Ahafo, President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Ntotroso, Barima Twereko Ampem, commended the government for taking steps to address the region’s longstanding road infrastructure challenges.

He expressed optimism that continued investment in road construction would significantly improve the region’s road network before President Mahama’s tenure ends.

Meanwhile, Roads Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza said the President was expected to commission several completed road projects across the country before the end of the year.

He added that the pace of work on roads in the Ahafo Region raised hopes that some of the projects there would be ready for commissioning within the period.
