The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited Ghanaian fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse.
The Minister interacted with the family during the visit and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support as they deal with the situation.

Dr Lartey stressed the need to provide a safe and supportive environment for the family, particularly the children, and said they should not be made to bear the burden of conflicts or violence involving adults.
She said Nana Akua Addo and her children would receive the necessary psychosocial and social welfare support to help them cope with the situation and safeguard their emotional wellbeing.

The Minister also noted that while the Police continue with their investigations, the wellbeing and protection of Nana Akua and the children must remain a priority.
She said appropriate measures would be taken to prevent further emotional distress and ensure the family receives the assistance it needs.
Dr Lartey disclosed that the Ministry would engage Nana Akua’s husband, who was unavailable during the visit, while ensuring that support is extended to all those affected.

She assured Nana Akua and the children of the Ministry’s commitment to working with the Police and other relevant institutions to safeguard their wellbeing, safety and dignity while ensuring that due process is followed.
