The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured the Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) that the 2025/2026 Book and Research Allowance will be paid by the end of September 2026.
The assurance follows concerns raised by the Association over delays in the payment of the allowance and its subsequent threat to embark on industrial action.
Speaking to the media, Mr Iddrisu said approximately 8,000 TUTAG members had been cleared to receive the allowance.
He explained that the government remained committed to supporting academic work and research at technical universities and would ensure that the necessary processes were completed for the payment to be made within the stated timeframe.
The Minister appealed to TUTAG members to remain calm and reconsider any plans to embark on industrial action.
He assured the Association that all necessary administrative processes for the release of the allowance had been completed and that payments would be made by the end of September.
