The Ghana Post has delivered more than 85,000 passports directly to applicants across the country between January and July 2026, according to the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.
Mr George disclosed the figures on Monday, September 7, 2026, during the Government Accountability Series, highlighting the expansion of Ghana Post’s doorstep delivery service.
He said a total of 85,638 passports were delivered to applicants during the seven-month period, bringing the number of passports delivered through the service since its introduction in May 2025 to 190,781.
To meet the growing demand for the service, Ghana Post has expanded its delivery fleet by acquiring 41 motorbikes and five pickup vehicles.
The Minister said the additional logistics would strengthen the company’s capacity to provide efficient last-mile delivery services across the country.
He also disclosed that Ghana Post had secured new institutional logistics arrangements with CotVets and Telecel Ghana as part of efforts to improve its operations and replenish its delivery fleet.
Mr George further announced that Ghana Post’s EMS service had attained Silver performance status, making Ghana the only African country to achieve that classification globally.
He said the developments reflected government’s broader efforts to modernise Ghana Post and improve the delivery of public services to citizens.
The Minister stressed that the expansion of doorstep passport delivery was intended to make the passport application process more convenient by reducing the need for applicants to travel to collection centres.
