Ghana’s Black Starlets have been handed a challenging group featuring Burkina Faso, Benin and Togo in the WAFU B qualifiers for the 2027 CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw places Ghana in Group A of the regional qualifying tournament, where the four teams will compete for a place in the next stage of the continental competition.
Group B will feature Côte d’Ivoire, Niger and Nigeria, with one slot remaining to complete the section.
The tournament’s group matches are scheduled to be played between 15 and 22 September, with fixtures spread across three matchdays.
For Ghana, the draw sets up an early test against familiar West African rivals as the Black Starlets seek to return to the continental stage.
Burkina Faso arrive as one of the region’s strongest youth football nations after producing several competitive performances in recent CAF youth competitions, while Benin and Togo will also be aiming to upset the traditional favourites.
The WAFU B qualifying tournament has become one of Africa’s most competitive youth events, with regional rivals battling for limited qualification places at the CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s preparations will now turn to the September tournament, where consistency across the three group matches could prove decisive in the race for qualification.
