Spanish giants Real Madrid have agreed a €2m deal to sign Ghanaian defender Oscar Naasei from Granada, in a move that marks another significant milestone in the 21-year-old’s rapid rise in Spanish football.
Naasei has already completed his medical and is expected to begin his career with Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve side, as he takes the next step towards breaking into the first team.
The Spanish champions secured the defender’s signature despite competition from a German club that had also been pursuing the transfer.
The versatile defender, who primarily plays at centre-back but can also operate at right-back, joined Granada’s Under-19 side from Ghanaian lower-tier club Emmanuel City in 2023.
Since arriving in Spain, he has progressed steadily through the club’s ranks, making 71 appearances across all competitions.
His development has continued this season, with the Ghanaian featuring in both of Granada’s opening two La Liga 2 matches.
Real Madrid’s €2m investment reflects the club’s belief in Naasei’s long-term potential, with Castilla expected to provide the ideal environment for him to adapt to the demands of one of the world’s biggest clubs.
The move also gives the young Ghanaian the opportunity to develop alongside some of Spain’s brightest emerging talents as he aims to earn a place in Real Madrid’s senior squad.
