Ghana international Mohammed Kudus is edging closer to a return for Tottenham Hotspur after entering the final phase of his rehabilitation, head coach Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined since January after suffering a quadriceps injury during Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.
Kudus was initially expected to be out for around three months and return in April. However, complications during his recovery delayed his comeback and eventually led to surgery, extending his spell on the sidelines.
The injury setback also ruled Kudus out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where he had been expected to play a key role for Ghana.
After resuming light individual training at the start of August, Kudus has made encouraging progress, with De Zerbi revealing that the forward is now close to full fitness.
“Kudus is almost ready; that is a big point for us,” the Tottenham manager said.
Despite the positive update, De Zerbi stressed that the club will remain cautious in managing Kudus’ return.
“It’s important also the management of the players; when the players have some problem, we have to stay calm, don’t take risks,” he added.
Tottenham are hopeful Kudus could return before the next international break, which begins after their home Premier League fixture against Aston Villa on September 19.
Before then, Spurs are scheduled to face Nottingham Forest on September 5 and Everton on September 12 as they look to welcome one of their key attacking players back into the squad.
