New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has praised former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP), Sarah Adwoa Safo, describing her as a “Woman King” for her role in ensuring a peaceful and successful funeral for her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and Kantanka Group, was laid to rest following tensions within the family and an ongoing legal dispute.

Dr Bawumia made the remarks when Adwoa Safo and her family visited him at his residence to express their appreciation for attending the funeral.

He said developments surrounding the funeral had caused considerable concern but commended the family for remaining united and ensuring that the disagreements did not overshadow the final rites.

“The kind of news and information we were hearing got us all worried and scared, but I commend you for standing firm and organizing the funeral very well. As you said, you are the Woman King,” he lauded.

Dr Bawumia said the family’s efforts had eased concerns that the disagreements could disrupt the funeral and lead to further complications.

“If it hadn’t happened that way, a lot of things would have been spoilt. We are now relieved for how well the funeral was organized.”

Addressing Adwoa Safo directly, Dr Bawumia again praised her determination and leadership during what he described as a difficult period.

“You say you are a Woman King, I am very happy because the turn of events was very problematic. But you all stood firm and made everything go well.”

He also recalled attending the thanksgiving service following the funeral, where he said he witnessed a rainbow in the sky, which he interpreted as a positive sign.

“We all know the late Apostle was very happy. We thank God and thank you very much.”
