The 2026 National Mining Dialogue is underway at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on the future of Ghana’s mining sector.

Organised by Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen and Semmis DS Group, the dialogue is being held under the theme, “Rethinking the Social Licence to Operate.”

The event is focusing on how mining companies, government, traditional authorities and local communities can build sustainable trust and strengthen cooperation in mining communities.

Discussions are also expected to examine Ghana’s resource management framework, identify areas that are working effectively and address challenges affecting the sustainable development of the country’s mining industry.

The dialogue has attracted senior government officials, traditional leaders, mining sector regulators and industry stakeholders.

The Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council, H.R.M. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, is serving as chairperson, while former Chief of Staff, Dr Julius Debrah, is the special guest of honour.

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, is among the guests of honour at the event.

Other speakers include the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Isaac Andrews Tandoh; Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), Mrs Justina Nelson; and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi.

Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, is also participating as a speaker.

The programme is being hosted by Philip Osei Bonsu, with stakeholders expected to use the platform to discuss practical measures to improve relations between mining companies and host communities.

The organisers say the dialogue seeks to promote collaboration among government, traditional leadership and industry while encouraging approaches that will ensure Ghana’s mineral resources contribute meaningfully to sustainable national development.
