The sister of Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has opened up about a frightening encounter in Lagos after her vehicle was allegedly damaged by area boys.

Saltiana Aderibigbe, popularly known as DJ Salt of Life claimed she was targeted because they mistook her for the singer.

In a post shared online, she revealed that the incident left her shaken, particularly because the attackers repeatedly called out Ayra Starr’s name during the confrontation.

“They damaged my car yesterday and honestly it was so sad. And the fact that they kept shouting Ayra Starr made it even worse because they thought I was her.”

According to DJ Salt, the incident is part of a wider concern facing motorists in parts of Lagos, where some street groups allegedly demand money from drivers, especially those perceived to be driving expensive vehicles.

She claimed that refusing such demands can sometimes escalate into intimidation, threats or damage to property.

“Imagine, this is what happens now in Lagos once you drive a nice car. These area boys won’t let you go except you give them money. If you don’t give them, they might stone your car and break something. So basically, it’s by force.”

The DJ questioned how the troubling situation could be brought under control, as he called for urgent attention from authorities.
