The family of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka has expressed disappointment over the ongoing funeral arrangements being organised by former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for her father.
The family, through its Secretary, Dr. Siaw, said it would not disrupt the funeral ceremony but would rely on the legal process to resolve the dispute surrounding the burial arrangements.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Siaw said the family was disappointed with the manner in which the funeral was being handled, as they believe it does not reflect the legacy and stature of the founder of Kristo Asafo Mission.
According to him, the family had seen preparations suggesting that a casket had been brought to the venue but was uncertain about the circumstances surrounding the presence of the remains.
“We will not disrupt her funeral, but we will make a legal case to that effect because we all know an injunction has been put into effect. We don’t know if they want to trick us into believing his body has been received from the morgue or not. All we know is when it is time for our event, she will produce the body for us,” he added.
Dr. Siaw described Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka as a peaceful leader and said the family would not allow disagreements over the funeral to create confusion or disorder.
He, however, criticized Adwoa Safo and her brothers who are supporting the funeral arrangements, describing them as shameless.
“She is embarrassing her father with her disrespect conduct. She claimed to give him a befitting funeral, is that the befitting funeral? Is this the best way to appreciate her father’s legacy? Because everyone knows the process is not right, no dignitary or chief is even present at the funeral of such a big man,” he claimed.
The dispute over the funeral arrangements follows a legal battle involving members of the Safo family, with the High Court issuing an interim injunction affecting the burial plans.
