The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has issued a stirring message of support to Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, as they prepare to compete at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
In a letter dated July 26, 2026, and addressed to the team, the Ministry praised the Black Queens for their achievements over the years while expressing confidence in their ability to make the nation proud on the continental stage.
The message highlighted the team’s rich history in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, describing it as a reflection of their dedication, skill, and passion.
The Ministry also acknowledged the Black Queens’ bronze medal finish in the previous edition of the tournament, noting that their performances have continued to inspire Ghanaians and football fans across Africa.
“Your storied history in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations reflects your dedication, skill, and passion. With a bronze medal in 2025, you have consistently demonstrated that you are the true pride of Africa, inspiring us all with your unwavering spirit on the field,” part of the statement read.
The Ministry further assured the players of the unwavering support of the government and millions of Ghanaians as they embark on their quest for continental glory.
“Millions of fans back home in Ghana and across the continent stand firmly behind you, cheering every move you make. The Government and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation are immensely proud to support you as you prepare to shine on the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations stage,” the letter added.
The statement concluded with a passionate call for national unity behind the team, urging Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Queens throughout the tournament.
“Let’s rally behind our Queens and show them the full support of Ghana! Together, we believe in you. Go Queens and make Ghana proud!!!!”
The Black Queens head into the 2026 WAFCON with high expectations as they seek to build on their impressive showing at the last edition and challenge for their first continental title.
