The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has cautioned the public to disregard fraudulent documents circulating on social media and other online platforms claiming to offer grants under a supposed Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026.
In a statement, the Ministry said it had become aware of fake documents titled “Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative 2026 Application Form” and “Conditional Approval of Your Application for the Agricultural SMEs Grant Initiative (2026).”
According to MoFA, the documents falsely claim that the Ministry is providing grants to agricultural small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and invite members of the public to submit applications.
The Ministry explained that the documents direct applicants to unofficial email addresses, websites and contact details that have no affiliation with MoFA.
It stressed that the purported grant scheme does not exist and described the circulating documents as a scam intended to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
MoFA further clarified that it has not authorised any individual, committee or organisation to receive grant applications, process grants, collect accreditation fees or request personal information on its behalf through the channels referenced in the fake documents.
The Ministry said it is collaborating with the appropriate security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure those behind the scam are identified and prosecuted.
It urged the public not to respond to any requests related to the alleged grant programme and advised anyone seeking information about MoFA’s programmes to verify it through the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit or other official communication channels before taking any action.
The Ministry also expressed appreciation to the public for their vigilance and cooperation in helping prevent fraud and protect others from falling victim to the scam.
