Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has announced that Parliament will conclude debate on the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review within three days, including a special sitting on Saturday, July 25.

The schedule was outlined in the Business Committee’s statement for the 10th week, covering Tuesday, July 21, to Saturday, July 25.

The debate will follow the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, on Thursday, July 23.

Presenting the Business Statement, Mr. Ayariga said Members of Parliament would begin debating the Finance Minister’s statement immediately after its presentation.

“Comments on the statement will commence, and we expect Leadership to conclude the commentary on Monday, 27th July, 2026,” he said.

He explained that due to the volume of business before the House and limited time available, the Business Committee had proposed an additional sitting on Saturday to expedite proceedings.

“Due to the pending business before the House and time constraints, the Committee proposes that the House sit on Saturday, 25th July, 2026, to dispense with some outstanding business and continue with the commentary on the Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government of Ghana for the 2026 Financial Year,” he stated.

Mr. Ayariga urged Members of Parliament to make themselves available for the extended sitting to facilitate the completion of the House’s scheduled business.

Parliament does not ordinarily sit on weekends or Mondays, with Mondays typically reserved for Members to travel from their constituencies ahead of parliamentary business, which usually begins on Tuesdays.
