The Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda, has expressed concern over the shortage of teachers in basic schools across the constituency, warning that the situation is negatively affecting the quality of education.
Speaking at Nkaseim, the MP said the inadequate number of teachers in classrooms poses a major challenge to teaching and learning, adding that urgent steps are needed to address the deficit.
According to him, he is engaging the relevant authorities to ensure the constituency receives its fair share of teachers during the next nationwide posting by the Ministry of Education.
Alhaji Collins Dauda expressed confidence that Asutifi South would receive no fewer than 50 newly posted teachers to help address the staffing challenges in the district’s basic schools.
He said improving access to qualified teachers remains critical to raising educational standards and enhancing learning outcomes for pupils.
Meanwhile, the Nkosuohene of Nkaseim, Nana Asokwah Opoku, expressed concern over what he described as the growing politicisation of education in the country.
He said the trend is affecting both students and parents and called on the government to implement policies that would insulate the education sector from partisan politics.
Nana Asokwah Opoku urged authorities to adopt effective measures to improve the country’s education system, stressing that quality education is essential to producing responsible and competent leaders for the future.
