Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is set to swap the stage for the lecture hall after accepting an invitation to speak to students at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on music marketing, branding and the business of entertainment.
The invitation came from the Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, who expressed his desire for the award-winning musician to share his entrepreneurial journey and practical knowledge of building a successful music career.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Shatta Wale’s experience in using the internet to market his music and establish a powerful personal brand offers valuable lessons for students, particularly those interested in marketing, branding and the creative economy.
“I want Shatta Wale to come and address UPSA students. I’d love for him to share his business knowledge and how he learned to make music using the internet,” Professor Mawutor stated.
Responding to the invitation, Shatta Wale gladly accepted and hinted that he would be visiting the university in September.
“Thank you, Vice Chancellor. I will be there,” he wrote.
The announcement has generated excitement among fans and students, with many looking forward to hearing firsthand how the self-acclaimed Dancehall King built one of Ghana’s most influential music brands through digital platforms, strategic marketing and consistent audience engagement.
