Gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng has expressed frustration over what he describes as a dangerous obstruction on a road in front of his residence, warning that it poses a risk to both motorists and flood prevention efforts.
According to the veteran singer, a container has been placed on a section of the road, which has significantly reduced the available space for vehicles and making it difficult for motorists to pass safely.
He revealed that despite reporting the matter to the appropriate traditional authorities and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, the structure remains in place.
Edward Akwasi Boateng questioned why the container has been allowed to occupy part of the public road, saying the situation continues to inconvenience residents and road users.
Beyond the obstruction, the gospel artiste also raised concerns about the increasing trend of people erecting structures in inappropriate locations, particularly along roads and waterways.
He warned that such developments not only obstruct the free movement of vehicles and pedestrians but also interfere with the natural flow of rainwater, increasing the risk of flooding.
His concerns come at a time when many parts of Ghana continue to grapple with devastating floods, with environmental experts repeatedly blaming illegal developments for worsening the impact of heavy rains.
Edward Akwasi Boateng is therefore calling on the relevant authorities to take swift action by removing the container and addressing similar unauthorised structures before they contribute to future flooding and endanger lives.
