Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has expressed concern after discovering that multiple versions of her name had already been claimed following WhatsApp’s introduction of its new username feature.

The latest update allows users to create unique usernames that can be used to connect with others without sharing their phone numbers. As the feature gradually rolls out, users are being encouraged to register their preferred usernames before they become unavailable.

However, when Nadia attempted to reserve her own name, she found that every variation she tried; including her full name, initials and other combinations, had already been taken.

The actress described the discovery as both frustrating and alarming, suggesting that fraudsters and impersonators may be rushing to secure usernames associated with celebrities to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

Nadia warned that if impersonators are quick to claim celebrity usernames, they could also exploit them to scam or mislead fans.

She urged her followers to remain vigilant and verify the identity of anyone claiming to be her on WhatsApp or other platforms.
