Police arrest four suspected drug peddlers, seize firearm and suspected narcotics in Ashanti Region

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspected drug peddlers and recovered a locally manufactured firearm, suspected narcotic substances and cash during an intelligence-led operation at Kunsu Township in the Ashanti Region.

According to a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the operation was carried out by the Mankranso District Police Command in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the district.

The suspects have been identified as Issaka Musah, 22; Amankwah Emmanuel, 25; Kwame Boateng, 32; and Appiah Prince, 23.

Police said items retrieved during the operation included one locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition, quantities of suspected Tramadol, red capsules, dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp, and a whitish powdery substance wrapped in paper suspected to be cocaine.

Officers also recovered GH¢5,647.40, which police believe to be proceeds from the alleged illicit drug trade.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects admitted ownership of the recovered items.

The four suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be arraigned before court after investigations are concluded.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug-related offences and organised crime across the country.

It also appealed to the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that will help identify and apprehend individuals involved in criminal activities.
