The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has warned that more rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across parts of southern Ghana on Tuesday evening, urging the public to remain alert following Monday’s devastating floods.
In its 18-hour impact-based weather forecast issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, GMet said the rainstorm that earlier prompted a weather warning is moving steadily along the coast of Benin but continues to influence weather conditions over southern Ghana.
According to the agency, the prevailing cloud cover is expected to generate rain accompanied by occasional thunderstorms along the coast and adjoining inland areas throughout the evening.
The forecast also indicates a likelihood of thunderstorms and rainfall across parts of the middle, transition and northern sectors later in the afternoon into the evening.
GMet placed portions of the coastal belt under a “Be Aware” weather alert, signalling the possibility of moderate weather impacts, while other parts of the country remain under low-risk conditions.
The agency forecast maximum temperatures ranging between 29°C along the coast and 35°C in the northern sector, with minimum temperatures expected to range from 22°C to 24°C nationwide.
The latest forecast comes a day after torrential rains triggered widespread flooding across Accra and other parts of southern Ghana, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property and disruption of economic activities.
With additional rainfall expected, residents in flood-prone communities have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid flooded roads and waterways, and follow safety directives issued by emergency management agencies.
Authorities have also urged motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution as the weather system continues to affect parts of the country.
