Former Italy international Mario Balotelli has expressed his strong admiration for Ghana and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo, praising the striker’s growing influence on the international stage.
Semenyo, who joined Manchester City in the January transfer window, has emerged as one of Ghana’s key performers in recent months. His pace, physical presence and direct attacking play have made him a constant threat to opposition defences, earning him widespread recognition.
The forward has carried that form into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he has played an important role in Ghana’s run to the Round of 32, further enhancing his reputation as one of Africa’s standout attacking talents at the tournament.
Balotelli, who was born to Ghanaian parents, singled out Semenyo as a player he particularly enjoys watching, highlighting the forward’s style and impact.
“I love the players. Semenyo, I love the way he plays. I think 2010 was the best team of Ghana,” the former Inter Milan, AC Milan and Manchester City striker said.
He also revealed his support for Ghana at the ongoing World Cup, pointing to his heritage as a source of pride.
“There is no Italy in the World Cup, so I support Ghana. I am from Ghana, and I’m proud,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ghana will come up against Colombia in the Round of 32 on Saturday at the Kansas City Stadium.
