Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has disclosed that businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has directed him and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to secure the design of the Boston Stadium in the United States with the aim of replicating a similar facility in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports following Ghana’s goalless draw against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Boston, Adams said Mahama was highly impressed by the stadium and expressed interest in constructing a comparable facility back home.

“We need to invest in sports infrastructure. I sat with Ibrahim Mahama during Ghana’s game against England, and he asked how much it would cost to build a stadium like this,” he said.
He further disclosed that the businessman has already instructed both him and GFA President Kurt Okraku to obtain the stadium’s design plans.
“Ibrahim Mahama has tasked Kurt Okraku and me with securing the Boston Stadium design so work can begin in Ghana,” Adams added.
The development comes as the Black Stars have already secured qualification to the Round of 32 of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana will conclude their Group L campaign against Croatia tonight in Philadelphia.
