The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially named its national headquarters after its founder and former President, Jerry John Rawlings, in recognition of his contribution to the growth and development of the party.
The unveiling ceremony brought together party leaders, government officials and supporters to honour the legacy of the late former President.

Speaking at the event, NDC General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, described Jerry John Rawlings as a visionary leader whose leadership laid the foundation for the party’s success over the years.
According to him, the NDC would not have achieved its current status without the dedication, sacrifices and leadership of its founder.
“The NDC would not have come this far without the leadership and legacy of Jerry John Rawlings,” he stated.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga also used the occasion to call for unity within the party, urging members and supporters to work together towards the continued progress of the NDC.
He stressed the need for collective effort and commitment to strengthen the party and advance its objectives.
National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, explained that the decision to name the headquarters after the late former President was taken to preserve and honour his legacy.
He noted that while Jerry John Rawlings was alive, he had resisted attempts to have institutions named after him.
Mr Asiedu Nketia said the party, after consultations and considering practices in other countries, concluded that naming the headquarters “Jerry John Rawlings House” was a fitting tribute to its founder.

President John Dramani Mahama officially unveiled the plaque bearing the name of the late former President, marking the formal dedication of the party headquarters in his honour.
The ceremony was attended by party executives, government officials and supporters who paid tribute to the role Jerry John Rawlings played in shaping the NDC and Ghana’s democratic journey.
