The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has donated sanitation equipment to members of the Mawuleme Movement to support ongoing efforts to maintain Ho’s status as one of Ghana’s cleanest and greenest cities.
The donation, made in Ho on Tuesday, included wheelbarrows and Wellington boots for volunteers engaged in regular clean-up exercises across the regional capital.
The gesture forms part of efforts to strengthen community participation in environmental sanitation and sustain the gains made in keeping the city clean.

Speaking after receiving the items, the Convener of the Mawuleme Movement, Prince Yao, expressed appreciation to the Regional Minister for the support, describing the donation as timely and beneficial to the group’s operations.
He noted that the equipment would enhance the efficiency of volunteers during clean-up activities and help advance the movement’s mission of promoting environmental cleanliness.
Prince Yao also called on institutions and relevant stakeholders to ensure the strict enforcement of sanitation by-laws to sustain progress made in improving environmental conditions within the region.

The Volta Regional Environmental Health Director, Stella Kumedzro, commended the volunteers for their dedication to sanitation and public health.
She praised members of the Mawuleme Movement for their commitment to keeping Ho clean and encouraged them to continue supporting efforts to preserve the city’s reputation for environmental excellence.
According to her, maintaining clean surroundings requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration among government institutions, environmental health authorities and community groups.
The donation is expected to boost the capacity of the volunteer group as it continues to undertake sanitation activities aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
