Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the government of losing control of governance, citing growing internal disputes among government officials as evidence of a lack of coordination and focus.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, June 16, Mr. Afenyo-Markin expressed concern that infighting within the administration is diverting attention from critical national challenges, including rising unemployment and economic hardship.
According to him, Ghanaians expect government appointees to work together to address the country’s pressing problems rather than engage in public disagreements and power struggles.
“What is clear in this country today is that this government has lost control of governance. It is clear. Things are getting out of hand, and there is fighting everywhere,” he stated.
The Minority Leader argued that the apparent divisions within the government are undermining effective leadership and weakening efforts to address the concerns of ordinary citizens.
“You are not working together, and you are not addressing matters. Unemployment is skyrocketing, and you are fighting,” he added.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin stressed that the worsening unemployment situation requires urgent and coordinated action from all sectors of government, warning that internal conflicts among officials could hinder the administration’s ability to deliver on its mandate.
He called on government officials to set aside their differences and focus on addressing the economic and social challenges confronting the country.
