Commercial drivers and riders who operate along the Womanhinso-Amomaso-Panaaba road in the Ahafo Region have expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the road, saying it is negatively affecting their livelihoods and transportation services in the area.

Speaking to Adom News, the motorists said the onset of the rainy season has worsened the situation, making the road difficult to navigate.

According to them, vehicles, tricycles, popularly known as pragia or aboboyaa, and motorbikes used to transport passengers and farm produce frequently get stuck in muddy sections of the road.

The drivers described the road as a nightmare, saying the poor condition has increased the cost of vehicle maintenance and prolonged travel times.

They noted that many commercial drivers and riders have abandoned the route and shifted their operations to other areas due to the challenges, leaving commuters stranded and struggling to find transportation for their daily activities.

Some residents and commuters who also spoke to Adom News said the deplorable road is causing immense hardship, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly, sick persons and schoolchildren who rely on the route.

They explained that accessing healthcare, markets and other essential services has become increasingly difficult because of the poor road network.

The commuters are therefore calling on the Department of Feeder Roads in the Ahafo Region to urgently intervene and rehabilitate the road before the situation worsens.

They warned that if authorities fail to address their concerns, they may be compelled to embark on a protest to draw attention to their plight.

Residents believe improving the road will not only ease transportation challenges but also facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and boost economic activities in the affected communities.
