The Black Stars of Ghana have departed Cardiff for the United States as they intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The squad has spent close to two weeks in camp in the United Kingdom, where they focused on tactical drills and fitness conditioning ahead of the global tournament, which will be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz named his final 26-man squad on Monday, June 1, confirming the players set to represent Ghana at the World Cup.

The team rounded off their UK preparations on Tuesday, June 2, with a friendly at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Caleb Yirenkyi gave Ghana the lead in the second half, but late defensive lapses allowed Wales forward Lewis Koumas to salvage a draw for the hosts.

Following the match, the Black Stars have now travelled to their next training base in Providence, Rhode Island, where final tactical preparations will continue ahead of the tournament.

Ghana are expected to play a final warm-up fixture against Jamaica on June 10 before heading into competitive action.

The four-time African champions will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

They open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

Ghana will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since their historic quarter-final run at the 2010 World Cup.
