The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two suspected robbers in connection with a robbery attack on the Tumu-Kowie road in the Sissala East District.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Seidu Muizu and 22-year-old Salifu Mutada, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation after they allegedly robbed three individuals at gunpoint on May 30, 2026.

According to the police, the suspects made away with an unregistered Apsonic motorbike during the attack. However, swift investigations led to the recovery of the stolen motorbike and the arrest of the two suspects.

Further investigations also led to the retrieval of another unregistered Loujia motorbike believed to have been used in carrying out the robbery. Both motorbikes have since been impounded to assist with ongoing investigations.

Police disclosed that preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may be linked to several robbery incidents that have recently terrorised residents of Tumu and its surrounding communities.

Investigators are therefore expanding the scope of their inquiries to establish whether the suspects were involved in other criminal activities reported within the district.

The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to trace and recover the firearm allegedly used in the robbery.

The Upper West Regional Police Command has commended members of the public for their cooperation and support and urged residents to continue providing credible information to assist law enforcement agencies in combating crime and enhancing security across the region.
