The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has disclosed that close to 90,000 young people have secured jobs over the past year through various government programmes under the ministry.

He explained that the beneficiaries are working across different sectors and continue to receive their salaries on schedule.

Speaking at a town hall meeting during President John Dramani Mahama’s ongoing regional tour in the Savannah Region, held at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School, Mr Opare Addo said the government has made notable progress in addressing youth unemployment.

“In the last year since we assumed office, we have employed close to 90,000 young people, and I want to tell you that we don’t even owe one single person under the YEA,” he said.

He added, “The good news is that what President Mahama is doing is transforming youth development and from all sectors, from Agriculture, Health,” encouraging young people to take advantage of the available programmes to improve their livelihoods.

According to him, the initiatives are designed to create sustainable employment opportunities and strengthen economic participation among the youth.

He further assured that government remains committed to expanding job creation through targeted interventions and partnerships across key sectors.
