Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum says his side is fully prepared and confident ahead of Ghana’s opening match against Algeria at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana will take on the North African side at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.

Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Ogum praised the commitment and readiness of his players following weeks of preparation.

“The boys have prepared very well for this tournament. We have worked hard over the past few weeks, played competitive friendly matches, and I believe the team is mentally and tactically ready for the Algeria game,” he said.

The former Asante Kotoko coach acknowledged the strength of the Algerians but maintained that his players are focused and confident heading into the game.

“Algeria is a good side, and qualifying from the North African zone is never easy. We respect them, but we are also confident in our own abilities. The players understand what is at stake, and they are eager to make Ghana proud.”

Ogum also highlighted the significance of starting the tournament on a positive note.

“Opening games are always very important in competitions like this. A positive result can give you confidence and momentum, so we are going into the match with determination and belief.”

The Black Starlets will be aiming to make a strong impact at the continental tournament while also chasing qualification to the FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year.
