A pastor standing trial for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District has been granted bail by the Sefwi Wiawso High Court.
The accused, Richmond Kwasi Frimpong, together with two others, was earlier arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the alleged incident.
Speaking after proceedings at the High Court, counsel for the accused persons, Francis Kyei Badu, explained that the Bibiani District Court had indicated it lacked jurisdiction to grant bail to the accused persons.
According to him, a bail application was subsequently filed before the High Court.
The lawyer disclosed that the court granted bail to the first accused, Richmond Kwasi Frimpong, and the third accused, Emmanuel Appiah, in the sum of GH¢500,000 each with two justified sureties.
He further stated that the court directed the prosecution to file and serve all disclosures, including witness statements and other evidential materials, to support the trial process.
The case has been adjourned for one month.
