The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), together with other sister security agencies, has conducted a joint emergency simulation exercise at the Bank of Ghana Regional Headquarters in Tamale.

The exercise formed part of efforts to test the preparedness, coordination, and operational response of emergency and security agencies during crisis situations within critical national institutions.

The simulation also assessed the response capacity of management and staff of the bank in the event of an emergency.

During the exercise, emergency responders demonstrated coordinated rescue and response procedures aimed at managing potential security and safety threats within the banking environment.

Officials say the exercise was designed to identify gaps in emergency response systems while improving collaboration among the various security and emergency institutions.

Following the drill, the Northern Regional Fire Commander, Joseph Koranteng, addressed management and staff of the bank on observations made during the exercise.

He highlighted a number of operational lapses identified during the simulation and provided recommendations on how staff and management could strengthen their emergency response procedures.

ACFO I Koranteng stressed the importance of regular drills and institutional preparedness in preventing panic and reducing casualties during emergencies.

Management and staff of the bank commended the participating agencies, especially the GNFS, for the professionalism, coordination and swift response demonstrated throughout the exercise.

The simulation exercise forms part of broader efforts by the security services to enhance institutional safety and improve emergency preparedness across the country.
