Former Ahafo Regional Minister, George Boakye, has appealed to the current Regional Minister and other key government officials to expedite processes to clear medical equipment meant for the region but currently stuck at the port.
Addressing chiefs, clergy, politicians and government officials at Goaso, Mr. Boakye explained that through his efforts, a United States-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), HART Foundation, supplied the medical equipment to help improve healthcare delivery in the region.
However, he said the items have remained at the port and are yet to be cleared.
According to him, failure to expedite the clearance process could result in the containers being auctioned, based on information available to him, a situation he warned would greatly affect the region.
Mr. Boakye stressed that the equipment would significantly boost healthcare services in the Ahafo Region and urged the Regional Minister and other relevant authorities to take urgent steps to clear the items.
