The Ghana Education Service (GES) Examination Officer for Asunafo North in the Ahafo Region, Isaac Siaw, has confirmed that 24 candidates absented themselves from the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the municipality.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News at Goaso, Mr. Siaw explained that the reasons behind the absenteeism were beyond the control of the candidates and education authorities.

According to him, some of the candidates had travelled, others were seriously ill, while one candidate was reported dead.

He disclosed that out of the total 3,547 registered candidates, 24 failed to show up for the examination.

Mr. Siaw further noted that the municipality recorded no cases of examination malpractice, attributing the outcome to effective measures put in place by the education directorate under the leadership of the Municipal Director of Education, Samuel Laari.

Meanwhile, some candidates who spoke to Adom News expressed optimism about passing the examination, saying the papers were not as difficult as they had anticipated.

They also commended the invigilators for demonstrating professionalism throughout the examination process.
