Four people, including a pregnant woman and her daughter, have died in a tragic road accident involving a Sinotruk HOWO tipper truck at Kinkinlin near Makango in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
Five people were reportedly knocked down by the truck. Four died on the spot, while the lone survivor sustained critical injuries and was initially rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital before being referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
According to an Accra-based Citi News report, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday when a group of women and young girls were walking to their farms to pick shea nuts.
Eyewitnesses said the tipper truck, with registration number GB-2359-20, suddenly lost control, veered off its lane and crossed onto the opposite side of the road, where it struck the victims from behind before overturning.
