Tension has gripped Domeabra in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region after gunshots were reportedly fired during a large-scale demolition exercise that has left more than 1,000 houses destroyed.

The operation, reportedly carried out by a private company linked to Frederick Kofi Asare, is said to be based on court rulings affirming the company’s ownership of the land.

According to the company, it obtained judgments from both the High Court and the Supreme Court before proceeding with the demolition exercise.

However, residents told Adom News that the exercise was carried out without prior notice, leaving many families displaced and in shock. Structures affected include residential homes, a filling station, and a community clinic.

Some of the victims expressed frustration over the situation and appealed to the government for urgent intervention.

Meanwhile, a member of the company, Dr Henry Addo, defended the exercise, insisting it is backed by valid court judgments.
