Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has clarified government policy on travel arrangements for officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, confirming that not all executive members will have their trips funded by the state.
Speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM, the Buem MP explained that while government will support key officials, Executive Council members will not benefit from state-funded travel.
“The government will not fund the travel of Executive Council members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of the World Cup,” he said.
He added that specific officials, including GFA President Kurt Okraku, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, and members of the Management Committee, will be catered for.
“However, the General Secretary, the president of the GFA, and Management Committee members will be taken care of, but the government will not fund the trips of any Executive Council members,” he stated.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will make their fifth appearance at the Mundial in North America, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
The Black Stars will open their campaign on June 17 against Panama, face England on June 23, and conclude their group-stage matches against Croatia on June 27.
Ahead of the tournament, head coach Carlos Queiroz’s side will step up preparations with international friendlies against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2.
