Newly appointed Black Stars goalkeepers trainer Daniel Gasper is expected in Ghana this weekend as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Citi Sports has reported.
Gasper joins the national team’s technical setup following the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach, taking up the role of first goalkeepers trainer.
The Portuguese coach is expected to begin his duties with meetings in Accra, including discussions with Hearts of Oak shot-stopper Benjamin Asare, before travelling to Europe to engage other Black Stars goalkeepers such as Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
He is also set to meet members of the technical team, including former Ghana international Fatau Dauda, who has been named second goalkeepers trainer.
Gasper arrives with significant experience, having worked with several clubs and national teams across Europe and the Middle East.
He is best known for his close working relationship with Queiroz, serving as a trusted goalkeeping coach during the veteran manager’s spells with Iran, Colombia and Egypt.
His addition is expected to strengthen Ghana’s backroom staff and provide valuable expertise in improving the performance and consistency of the team’s goalkeepers.
The Black Stars will continue their World Cup build-up later this month with a friendly against Mexico before concluding their preparatory matches against Wales on June 2.
Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth appearance at the Mundial after being drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and complete their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
