Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum says he is not feeling any pressure as Ghana prepares for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations later this year in Morocco.

Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group D alongside Algeria, Senegal and South Africa.

The team is currently in Ivory Coast for back-to-back friendly matches against the Young Elephants as part of preparations for the continental showpiece.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Ogum said he and his technical staff remain calm and focused, stressing that their plans are progressing smoothly.

“I don’t think so,” Ogum said when asked whether there is pressure to get the Black Starlets to do well,” he told the Ghana FA website.

“I don’t feel the pressure. It’s about trying to structure your programmes well. Together with the technical team, we have structured our programme.

“We have a framework within which we are working. We are taking it step by step…we make sure it’s sequential, and there’s an alignment. And because we are doing that, we are getting the best out of the boys,” Narteh Ogum added.

The Black Starlets will begin their campaign against Algeria on May 14 before facing Senegal on May 17 and South Africa on May 20.

This year’s tournament will also serve as the qualification route for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
