The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has officially decorated 19 senior officers of the Ghana Police Service following their promotion to higher ranks.
The ceremony, held on April 17, 2026, at the National Police Headquarters in Accra, was attended by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) and forms part of efforts to recognise merit, dedication, and long service within the Service.

The promotions were based on recommendations by the Police Council and approved by President John Dramani Mahama.

Eight of the officers were elevated from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner of Police (COP). They include Dr Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Frederick Agyei, Duuti Tuaruka, Arthur Osei-Akoto, Darko Offei Lomotey, Eric Ken Winful, Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, and Desmond Owusu Boampong.
The decoration ceremony is part of broader efforts to strengthen leadership across key operational and administrative levels of the Police Service.

Addressing the officers, the IGP, together with POMAB members, congratulated them on their elevation and urged them to uphold professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

The Ghana Police Service says the promotions are intended to boost morale and enhance effective policing across the country.
