A fire outbreak has gutted the Berekum Cinema Hall in the Bono Region, destroying property and important documents valued at thousands of Ghana cedis.

According to the Ghana News Agency, the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly and managed to contain the blaze before it spread further.

The incident caused panic among traders and passers-by, particularly due to the facility’s proximity to a branch of Ghana Commercial Bank in Berekum.

Assistant Divisional Officer Grade Three, Ishaku Mohammed, who heads the Berekum Municipal Fire Command, said the fire was already intense when personnel arrived at the scene.

He, however, noted that the team was able to bring the situation under control, preventing damage to nearby shops and structures.

No injuries or fatalities were recorded, while investigations have begun to determine the cause of the fire.
