A woman believed to be in her late 30s has been found dead in an abandoned stone quarry at Gomoa Asarekrom, near Buduburam in the Gomoa East District.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, with residents unsure whether she was killed elsewhere and dumped at the site or died in the quarry.
According to residents, the Sarpong quarry, which has been inactive since 2016, has become a haven for criminal activity due to overgrown vegetation and lack of security.
Speaking to Adom News, the Guantuahene of Gomoa Asarekrom, Nana Nyarko Ababio, said the body had been lying at the scene since Friday evening without being removed by authorities.

He appealed to the Ghana Police Service and environmental health authorities in the Gomoa East District to promptly retrieve the body to prevent decomposition.
Nana Nyarko Ababio also called on government to take action against the owner of the abandoned quarry, warning that the site poses a serious threat to residents.
He claimed that more than 20 bodies have been retrieved from the quarry since operations ceased, raising concerns over safety in the area.
As of the time of filing this report, the body remained at the scene awaiting removal.
